Children of the Discordance x Salomon XT-6: Shinjuku prints itself on the trail icon
This collaboration reflects Hideaki Shikama's connection to Shinjuku, Tokyo, where the designer lived for seven years — the velvet paisley pattern of Kabukicho buildings and lounges is sublimated into the brand's original textile, called "Personal Data Textile," and adopted into the upper's design. Released on February 14, 2023, the Salomon XT-6 pair features white-on-blue baroque paisley prints with semi-translucent TPU overlays and the "LAB" letter block on the toe. The orange band that encircles the entire periphery between the upper and the midsole is the most immediate chromatic signature of the collaboration — the only warm accent on an entirely cold palette of black and dusty pink.
ACS + EndoFit: Salomon's tech under the range's most artistic pattern
The fast and durable QuickLace lacing system and the EndoFit design of the inner lining ensure support and performance. The whole thing rests on a high-performance ACS (Agile Chassis System) and a white Salomon midsole, coupled with a black Contagrip outsole that ensures grip and stability. The tongue features triple collab branding — "DISCORDANCE EXPLORATION" in white and orange along its entire length and "COSTS" in black on the white label — while Salomon branding is printed on the heel counter.
Who is it for?
The Children of the Discordance x COSTS x Salomon XT-6 is for the collector looking for the most narrative and artistic XT-6 ever produced — one whose baroque paisley upper tells a precise story, that of a Japanese designer and his Tokyo neighborhood, printed on Salomon's most technical trail silhouette. It's for fans of Japanese fashion and cultural streetwear who want a pair whose value is as much in the concept as in the construction.
